PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey has been released from the hospital, which has given peace of mind to one of the players who unintentionally put him there.
Steelers defensive back Ryan Mundy told us after practice that chatter between he and Heyward-Bey following Sunday’s game has been good-natured.
“We all take that seriously, because we understand this is our livelihood,” Mundy said on the South Side Tuesday. “But in the same breath, it’s football. I had to make the play, I had to get the ball out. We don’t intentionally try to injure opponents, but we do play a physical style of football, and we take pride in it. I’ve talked to him, and I’m thankful he’s okay.”
Mundy, who got beat on each of two first-half touchdowns by the home team in a devastating 34-31 Week 3 loss at Oakland, also shared his perspective on the Steelers’ much-publicized defensive difficulties.
“Execution and communication is our biggest issue,” he added. “It’s not like anyone’s putting up ridiculous numbers against us. We just have to make plays when we need to make them.”

The Steelers have a bye this weekend before hosting the Philadelphia Eagles at Heinz Field Sun., Oct. 7.
